This book is a great practical guide for new entrepreneurs. It has details that are often overlooked. For example, it has a frank discussion on dividing up equity, warnings not to forget about sales, good tips for storytelling (use specific examples), and plenty of reminders to talk to as many people as possible about your idea, because ideas are worthless.
The book may also inspire you to scratch your entrepreneur itch. The book inspired me to think of some new business ideas.
Although, it was written for student entrepreneurs, most of the book applies to any entrepreneur. It might lean a little more to technology start-ups, but they stress that the ideas apply to non-technology and even non-profits.
I was going to write a book with advice for start-ups. Instead, I’ll recommend this book. Instead, I’ll link to to some other sources and expand on specific lessons from Opex— like more details on the importance of cash flow, naming your company, and talent.
