Feb 19: Executive talk on AI followed by MEM Industry Night at Northwestern
I will kick-off the MEM Industry Night with an AI talk at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, February, 19th on Northwestern’s lakefront Athletic Center.
I’m in the warm-up lecture from 2:30 to 4:30 with another talk from a recent graduate on a research project with a health care company on AI-driven risk management.
From 5:00 to 8:30 the event will feature cocktails, networking and a poster session, a Fireside Chat with Shapour Arami, Chairman & CEO of SAI Advanced Power Solutions, INC., and dinner.
The entire evening event is appropriate for NU students, MEM alums, and executives at your firm. You can get tickets to everything or just part of the event. You can get tickets here.
My talk is a version of the one I give to Boards, to CEO's and executives, at industry conferences, and in our MEM program. Here’s a summary:
Title: “What Business Leaders Need to Know About AI.”
Talk Overview:
People use the term AI to mean different things. This can make communication difficult. This talk covers what people mean by the term AI and different frameworks for thinking about it.
We'll cover Artificial General Intelligence, Deep Learning, Generative AI (LLMs), and what I call the big tent of Practical AI (where there is still a lot of business value). In addition, we'll talk about building a team and scaling.
The talk is meant for non-technical business leaders. It cuts through the hype, provides practical advice, and gives you plenty of additional sources to explore. You should walk away with a much better understanding of the AI space.
The talk wraps up with a fun discussion: "Should you be worried?"
